The purpose of this assignment is to introduce yourself to your instructor and to inform him of the following:

1)      your family/job/interests/hobbies (whatever you feel comfortable sharing)

2)      academic/educational goals

3)      expectations of the course

4)      two things you hope to improve about your writing in this course

Additionally, this assignment will allow me to assess the present strengths and weaknesses of the class.  This will make instruction more productive and will, hopefully, result in making you better communicators.

Format Requirements: Memo format required for this assignment (see Figure 1.10 p. 26 in your text).  The purpose of memo must be clearly stated in first paragraph, and you must have separate paragraphs for each of the four required topics.  Document must be typed.

What follows is a rubric for the assignment.  Note that this assignment is for diagnostic purposes only.  It WILL NOT be counted toward your course grade.  However, it will give you an accurate indication and feel for how the assessment of ENGL 155 assignments will take place.
